The Chronicles of East Main..the Ya Sui & the Yan Tau.

Here's the story........

The 4 ladies ( well, actually there are five ladies in the picture, but Taukay Soh Ah Gan is not the subject matter therefore I penned it as 4.... ) are nicked name

The 4 White Fairies bcos they lived in the White House of USL ( again....there should be 5 White Fairies but Amily was not in the picture ).




Back then in early 1982, they are the "presious gems" in the eyes of " bujang bujang or buaya buaya" of Malaysian males studied in USL. Simply bcos "supply" was much much less then "demand", therefore these Fairies are a bit "tarek harga" in the sense that they seldom accept invitation by the buaya-buaya for movies or party.


A brand new chapter was written when a young fello Malaysian from Kluang, Johor arrived at USL in Autumn 1982. He quitted Boys' Dorm and stayed at Richard Dorm for a short duration ( refer to my posting on " Tony Lim, My Super Duper Senior " ) then he moved to South Washington Street.


The big old house at South Washington Street was originally occupied by 3 smart Sarawakians ie Lawrence ( Petroleum Engineering ), Patrick Lau ( Business ) and Jeffrey ( Agriculture ).






Lawrence was then sharing with Jeffrey and bcos Patrick was occupied a big room singlely, he felt very scary and very very "lonely" at night....therefore, Patrick decided to take the young fello in as his "sleeping-mate".




This young arrival was really of havoc type.... " Life = Fun ! Fun ! Fun !" was his motto & his main objective of going to USA/USL was

to have FUN X 1000000000 !.

So he started organising BBQs/parties/dinners almost every Friday night.




Bcos of his "xtremely charasmatic" & Charming personality....coupled with his "intense Leadership quality", all White Fairies attended his parties without fail and that has attracted all buaya-buaya to come to South Washington Street & socialise under one roof.




& so South Washington ( SW ) Street Gang was formed & "registered" in USL students' circles !







One year later, the SW St Gang's " business" & membership expanded ten folds, the old venue can no longer house the activity, the young fello decided to relocate his "association" to 432 East Main Street, and thus the

ever famous and popular EAST MAIN GANG

was officially established in Louisiana, USA.

circle in BLUE : Kenneth....the East Main Gang "subsidiary"...the

Painter's Gang Leader...was a bright badminton player

circle in RED : sorry...forgot his name but was a very good talker and stayed with Architecture Ho and EE Hooi , neighbour to SW Street old house.

circle in GREEN : again....sorry...forgot his name ( but I think is Goh XX...)..a tall and very 3H man (handsome, helpful & humourous).

circle in PINK : I called him " Tai Ko " bcos he was the HOTEL Gang's Boss. Mind you, he was the first Malaysian that was able to get a part time job with a local hotel in Lafayette. If I am right, Tai Ko then married the Hotel's owner's daughter and I think by now , he should be the REAL Hotel Tycoon now.

OK, the one in the centre was nicked name " Ah Chiau " ...one hell of nick name !

He looked very "ah Beng" and naughty but in actual fact, he was always the first one to volunteer to drive to fetch the Freshman whenever there is one landed in Lafayette Airport. He was always very cheerful & joyeous and talks very funny.

The one on the right was Ah Chiau's good buddy...but again, sorry, I forgot his name.

Both Ah Chiau & his buddy were Tai Ko's close aides.....members of Hotel Gang.
